not enough hours in the day, not enough days in the week

Crazy how I go through these kicks where I get on this blog and think to myself , "self, start doing this more often." then I sign off and wait forever to get back on. It's funny because most of the time I try to sign on my blogspot I have forgotten the password and have to go look it up or better yet have it reset.

Anyway! not much new here in this crazy house and yes, I mean crazy house! I am still looking for work. Pretty soon I am thinking I may have to change paths altogether as i am just not having any luck. In the meantime, I will continue to do the most rewarding job ever and just be a mommy. Personally, I think it is what I am best at anyway. I mean, look at my kids. they do say we are products of our own environment and we learn by example and all of that good stuff and if you ask me...they are pretty good kids. (Smart and Pretty too!!) Just look at them!!

Hmm....who to start with today......How about Kara and her 5th grade year thus far. I myself hated 5th grade. Actually as awkward of a kid I was I really didn't like school at all until I reached about 11th grade. then I started to enjoy it, but I really hated 5th grade for whatever reason. Kara is doing great. So far I think she is really close to having straight A's for this quarter if she doesn't already. She has decided to stay in gymnastics which is a good move for her I think seeing as she is my little contortionist. She is as flexible as a rubber band.

Bailey is growing. Her vocabulary has expanded by about 5 thousand words in the past month. I don't think there is anything she cannot say. Yes, this means we all have to be really careful now.....We have started potty training. At first she wasn't really thrilled about the whole idea, but she is slowly coming around. I kind of backed off the pressure and let her call the shots. Some days she will insist to walk around butt naked (the days we stay home) and others to wear panties and others still to be in a diaper all day long. poor girl, the days she wears diapers she wets, then tells me she has to go. This makes for extra laundry, but oh well. After she wets she has to go sit on the 'potty' where she likes to remain for 15-20 minutes or say and I better not dare try to leave the bathroom and do something productive. Oh and did i mention how LOUD she is? If anyone ever thought Kara was a loud child and her voice carries, just wait. I think from constantly having to speak over Hannah and/or Kara all of the time to be heard she speaks very loudly. I am consistently saying "speak quietly Bailey" She just says "O-Tay" and keeps on going.

Hannah has adjusted to public school and high school pretty well. She is doing really good with her grades and seems to enjoy everyday. At least she has enough stories to tell to make one believe she is having fun. She tried out for basketball cheerleading (did i already tell this story?) and did not make it. Not to fret, she was not too distraught over it as once she went to tryouts she realized that basketball is more dance then stunts and she prefers that style of cheerleading. I think the plan now is to tryout for football cheerleading come springtime. She is in Chorus and loves it by the way and has even decided to take it again next semester. (YAY!!)

Well, that's about it for those who find our lives interesting enough to read a blog about it........not much to it ha?

And...They're Off!!!

Family Vacation 8/2009

Ok..Well, Hannah is in her 3rd week of school. Kara is in her 2nd. I think I am supposed to post new pictures too this go round.

Here goes:

Hannah is seeming to really enjoy school. Last week she attended Drama Club and FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). Both of those she had fun in from the sounds of it. She was bombarded with homework almost every night last week and had a few tests. She is finding that biology is a little difficult starting out. I blame this on the curriculum (or lack of) that she has had for the past 9 years as far as science goes. This makes me nervous about Math next semester, but we'll keep our fingers crossed on that one. Anyway, seems our girl has decided to try out for the Basketball Cheer team. Tryouts are next Tuesday and while a part of her is not all that too serious about it, I think there is a side of her that thinks it might be cool to try it. She is talking about LaCrosse in the spring or maybe soccer, but we'll see.

Shark Bites you may ask?? nope, not the 1st so far. i do have to say however, that she has seen and heard some things that sure make you realize how sheltered from things she has been at Carman all of these years. I don't think it is a bad thing, but I am glad we chose this year to put her out there into the "real world".

on another note....Kara is doing well. This year is also bringing about big changes for her. The biggest thing being that her class is combined with the 6th graders this year making for a much larger class than she has ever been in. This is a GOOD thing. This will be her first year in Pathfinders and she intends on staying in gymnastics again too.

And last but not least...Bailey..she is lost so far during the day without either of the girls home. She probably asks 12 times a day where one or the other of them are at and when it is time to get in the car in the afternoon and go pick them up. She has no hesitation at all.

Not much else, kinda boring actually ha??? I am sure it will only get better.

So here is the deal

After a long time of banging our heads against the wall we decided to bite the bullet and send Hannah to Kennesaw Mountain High School this year for high school. She was not thrilled with the idea at first, but has gotten used to the fact. Long story short, there are certain people (or a person), who says we are making a "grave mistake in our decision. Hannah will struggle greatly and shut down." Apparently, we are 'throwing her out to the wolves'.

I have no doubt Hannah will be just fine in public school after years in Carman where she has been since kindergarten. She is a strong, smart well-grounded kid and I say that proudly.

That being said, today was the 1st day of school and Hannah was absolutely fine. She made a few friends. None that she can remember the names of, but she seemed to enjoy her first day no matter how much it wore her out. I'll keep things posted as I am sure a lot of things will be going on this year.

Starting over....

So, I have not posted on this blog since Hannah had her surgery way back when in March. Let me just say she is doing great and everything seems to have subsided and we are getting on with life. (Thank God!)

I decided all of that news was old news and so much is changing that I would just clear away all of that old stuff and start fresh.

We just got back from a much too short, but much needed family get away for a few days to the beach. I'll post a new pic. later on when I have the time. It was good to get away and if it had not been for Hannah having freshman orientation this morning we would still be there. Why is it always so hard to come home from the beach?

Bailey was not thrilled with the ocean at all, but she was so good on the car ride down and back while she watched "Finding Nemo" 5 million times throughout the trip. Nemo is her new fascination. It is so funny to listen to her watch it too because she now knows what is going to happen before it actually does and gasps, and says "oh-no" and stuff like that. Yesterday she was watching it and out of the blue yells...."HeHo" (Hello) and about 15 seconds later Dory (the blue fish) said "Hello!!!". I cracked up.

Anyway, sorry to bore you with a lame 1st new post trust me it will only get better because according to certain people (who I will leave nameless at this point) Scot and I are feeding Hannah to the sharks beginning next week. I'll explain later and keep you posted on that. Til then.........
